In a surprising development, former England coach and current Lucknow Super Giants IPL franchise head, Andy Flower, has joined the Australian camp ahead of the highly-anticipated World Test Championship Final against India, set to commence on Wednesday at The Oval.

Flower, renowned for his successful stint as England coach from 2009 to 2014, will be assisting the Australian support staff in a consultancy role for the WTC Final. However, his stay with the team is expected to be short-lived as he won’t be around for the start of the Ashes series, scheduled to begin on June 16 at Edgbaston.

Although Flower won’t be present at the beginning of the Ashes, reports suggest that he might join the Australian camp during the series. For Pat Cummins and his Australian side, Flower’s involvement brings heightened expectations as they aim to become the first Australian team to secure an Ashes series victory in England since 2001. Cummins acknowledged Flower’s experience and insights, emphasizing the value he brings to the team. “He brings experience over here, first of all… And knows these conditions really well. Hopefully, he knows the opposition, so if he can give us one little bit of insight into playing in England that we haven’t thought about then it’s worth it.”, Cummins said while welcoming Flower to the squad.
