Fans heap praise after RCB come roaring back with the ball in IPL 2022 clash vs KKR

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a fantastic turnaround as a bowling unit after their struggles in the IPL 2022 opener the other day. The Faf du Plessis led side came to the party against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday (March 30), making amends for a poor outing with the ball in their tournament opener versus the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

RCB made a poor feast of defending a huge total of 205/6 on a flat batting surface at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai against PBKS’ powerful batting unit. But at the very same venue, the team went on to dismiss KKR to just 128 in 18.5 overs.

In the match against PBKS, RCB were let down by their usually trusted names such as Mohammed Siraj (2/59), Wanindu Hasaranga (1/40) and Harshal Patel (1/36).

But the trio came roaring back versus the two-time winners KKR, with Hasaranga being the stand-out performer. The Sri Lankan mystery spinner ran through the KKR batting unit to finish with figures of 4 for 20 off his 4 overs.

Ably supporting Hasaranga at the other end for RCB were Siraj (1/25) and Harshal (2/11). While the former was terrific with the new ball and set the tone up for RCB, the latter produced the goods through the middle and the end-overs of the innings for his team.

Fans applaud RCB for their allround effort with the ball against KKR

Given their performance on the night on a relatively flat surface at the DY Patil Stadium, the RCB attack was bound to garner appreciation from all sections of the IPL fanbase. Expected, fans flooded social media with high praise for each of their bowlers.

Here is how some of them reacted to RCB’s strong comeback:

Heading into the IPL 2022, the RCB bowling attack was rated as one of the most promising ones for the tournament, with their talented pace attack featuring the likes of Siraj, Harshal among others and the spin arsenal led by the mystery weapon Hasaranga.

Keeping in mind the imminent inclusion of Australian fast-bowler Josh Hazlewood, the RCB attack looks set to continue from strength to strength through the tournament, with more days like the one against KKR in store for this side.
