Delhi Capitals to pay tribute to Rishabh Pant at the Kotla

The Delhi Capitals have decided to hang Rishabh Pant‘s jersey at the dugout during their IPL 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants as a heartfelt homage.

Due to his ongoing recovery from the injuries he incurred in the automobile incident, he was engaged in late December of last year, Pant was disqualified from the IPL 2023.

In Pant’s absence, DC moved on to select David Warner the team’s skipper for the upcoming campaign. This season, DC coach Ricky Ponting had expressed a desire for Pant to attend the team’s home games and indicated he would work to get Pant in the squad.

“I have spoken to Rishabh a bit. We are hoping to get him involved this season. I’d love to have him at all our home games,” Ponting began.

“Having him in our dugout or our change room will be very special.”

“He’s looking forward to supporting us as much as he can. I am sure he’ll try his best to come and see us. But we want him to recover, take it slow and easy and get better as fast as he can,” said Warner.

The wicketkeeper had posted an emotional message for the team, saying that he will be their 13th man for the season.

“I am 13th player coz of impact rule otherwise would have been 12th man,” tweeted Pant.

Delhi lost their first game

With a heavy defeat in the first match against Lucknow, Delhi Capitals are looking to turn things around in their next game. Rahul’s team won the game thanks to Mark Wood. Delhi got off to a fast start with Warner and Shaw, who took the team to 40/0 in just four overs. At this point, Wood made a strike on each of the following deliveries before adding another over later. Delhi’s run rate was continually increasing, making it impossible for it to truly recover. Warner did his best to hold the line from one end, but he could never hope to take on that mountainous goal by himself. Credit should also go to Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran. Lucknow reached a significant score in the first innings thanks to the Caribbean pair.
