Complete list of players sold on Day 1

As many as 74 players were sold on Day 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday in Bengaluru. Of the 74 players, 20 were overseas cricketers. Young pace Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL auction. Having registered his name at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, the pacer was sold for Rs 10 crore to Lucknow Super Giants. Avesh is part of the Indian squad for the home series against West Indies but is yet to make his debut .

Young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the most expensive buy of Day 1. He was picked up by his former franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore. Deepak Chahar’s impressive all-round show in recent matches for India was rewarded as he as purchased by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 14 crore.

Some of the domestic Indian stars also walked away with handsome pay packages. Shahrukh Khan was sold for Rs 9 crore to Punjab Kings though he had a base price of Rs 40 lakh. Gujarat Titans also purchased Rahul Tewatia for the same amount. Further, Rahul Tripathi was purchased for Rs 8.5 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel were picked by Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively for Rs 10.75 crore each. Sunrisers Hyderabad obtained the services of Washington Sundar for Rs 8.75 crore, while Lucknow Super Giants picked Krunal Pandya for Rs 8.25 crore. At the start of the day, Punjab Kings outbid Delhi Capitals to pick Kagiso Rabada and Shikhar Dhawan for Rs 9.25 crore and Rs 8.25 crore respectively.

Among overseas cricketers, West Indian Nicholas Pooran was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10.75 crore and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga for the same amount for RCB. Further, Kolkata Knight Riders picked Pat Cummins for Rs 7.25 crore while Jason Holder was purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 8.75 crore.
