Chennai Super Kings qualify for the playoffs for the 12th time

The Delhi Capitals clashed against the Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. It was the last group stage match for both sides. While the Capitals were already knocked out of the tournament, they were playing to salvation some pride. On the other hand, it was an important match for the Super Kings as a win in this match would increase their chances in the top 2. Chennai ticked all the boxes in this encounter as they won the match by a thumping margin of 77 runs.

In the final IPL league encounter between the two teams, Chennai Super Kings scored 223 for 3 against Delhi Capitals thanks to 87 runs from opener Devon Conway and 79 runs from Ruturaj Gaikwad. Con way’s innings had 11 fours and three sixes, whereas Gaikwad only hit three boundaries and seven sixes in their opening stand of 141 runs.

In a brief but delightful cameo, Ravindra Jadeja added 20 runs in 7 balls to the total. Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed were among DC’s wickets, but they received harsh punishment.

David Warner put up a lone fight for the Delhi Capitals. The host team got off to a sluggish start and lost three wickets in the powerplay overs—Prithvi Shaw, Phil Salt, and Rilee Rossouw. As Delhi continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, Warner continued to bat to reach his fifty-run mark. Eventually, they were bundled out for 146 runs losing all their 10 wickets.
