Bangladesh Secures First Asia Cup U-19 Title, Beats UAE in Final

Bangladesh team was consistent since the start of the tournament. Being unstoppable, they appeared in the final. On December 17, the Bangladesh U-19 team locked horns with the UAE U-19 team at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. After winning the toss, UAE opted to bowl first.

Bangladesh had a brilliant start while batting first. Bangladeshi opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli played an outstanding knock of 129 runs in 149 balls. He smashed 12 boundaries and 1 over-boundaries. Rizwan Chowdhury scored 60 runs in 71 balls. Ariful Islam scored an amazing half-century. In 50 overs, the Bangladesh U-19 team put on a target of 283 runs in front of the opponent. 

While chasing the big target, the UAE team struggled. Both the openers got out quickly. None of the batters stand tall in front of the Bangladeshi bowlers. Akshat Rai scored 11 runs in 22 balls. Dhruv Parashar remained not out in 25 runs. Maruf Mridha and Rohanat Doullah Borson got three wickets each. Parvez Rahman Jibon and Emon picked up 2 wickets each. UAE got out in 87 runs and Bangladesh won the match by 195 runs. 

Since the start of the tournament, Bangladesh has shown their excellence. In the group stage, they defeated UAE, Japan, and Sri Lanka. In the semifinal, they beat India and qualified for the final. UAE defeated Pakistan in the semifinal and entered the final. Bangladeshi opener Shibli was outstanding in the tournament. He scored 2 centuries and several half-centuries. He ended up being the highest run-getter with 378 runs.
