In a groundbreaking move, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has reached a decision to adopt a hybrid model for the upcoming tournament, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka co-hosting the event. This resolution was the result of extensive discussions and negotiations between the boards of the participating teams, seeking to find a compromise following a disagreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding Pakistan’s hosting rights.
The BCCI was adamant about not playing any matches in Pakistan, while the PCB was keen on ensuring that at least a portion of the event was held in their home country. Once the group stage concludes, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage.
