But the third T20 match broke a record. Along with skipper Rohit Sharma, Rinku Singh made a fifth-wicket partnership of 190 runs. After watching Rinku’s brilliance, Ravichandran Ashwin compared him with MS Dhoni.

Rinku’s Excellence in the Series:

After ending the South Africa tour, Team India played a three-match T20 series against Afghanistan. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli came back in the T20 format after a 14-month break. India dominated the opponent. All the players performed at their best. In every unit, they were unstoppable. As a result of their brilliance, they whitewashed the opponent.

Among all the players, Rinku Singh shined the brightest. After the South Africa tour, Rinku was named to the T20 squad. Since the first T20 match of the series, he has been playing the finisher role excellently. In the first match, he played an unbeaten knock of 16 runs in 9 balls. With Shivam Dube, he finished the game in India’s favor.

In the third match, he showed his magic. In the third match, India lost three wickets quickly. In the fifth over, Team India was 22/4. From that end, skipper Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh carried that innings. Rohit scored an unbeaten century and Rinku Singh remained unbeaten in 69 runs in 39 balls. He smashed 2 boundaries and 6 over-boundaries. They registered the highest fifth-wicket partnership of 190 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s Word:

In the last over of the third T20 match against Afghanistan, Rinku Singh smashed 3 consecutive sixes. Rohit-Rinku duo smashed 36 runs in the last over. Rinku Singh played the role of a finisher responsibly. Their heroic knocks made sure India’s series won with a margin of 3-0.

After watching this exceptional finisher’s role, India’s legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin compared Rinku Singh with MS Dhoni. He said, “ Rinku Singh is somebody I’d call a left-handed MS Dhoni. I can’t compare him to MS just yet because MS is too big. But, I am talking about the composure that he brings. He has been consistently scoring buckets of runs and broke his way into the Indian team.”
