After concluding the T20 and ODI series, Team India looks forward to the two-match Test series against South Africa. From December 26 onwards, the first Test will be played. Before the series started, Team India received a setback. Young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Ruturaj’s Injury and Replacement:
Before the Test series started, Team India received a setback. During the second ODI against South Africa, Ruturaj Gaikwad injured his ring finger while fielding. After that, he missed this match of the series due to the injury. Now, as per the sources, he is set to miss the Test series against South Africa. That is a concern for the team. Gaikwad is expected to be back home and will start re-hab in Bangalore.
As the official statement has not come over the injury, the replacement is not revealed. But reports are saying, Bengal player Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to replace him in the Test squad. The batter is currently with the India A squad. He is also in the squad of India A for the second four-day match against South Africa A. If he is added to India’s squad he will miss the match for India A team.
India vs. South Africa Test Series:
After a long time, India will play the Test cricket. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and other senior players didn’t feature in the white-ball format. They will be back in the Test format. After playing the first ODI, Shreyas Iyer was released from the squad to prepare for the Test series. After a long time, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will come back in the longest format of cricket. They last played the Bordar-Gavaskar Trophy at home.
