A Symbolic Connection to His Favorite Number 13

Currently, England is playing their second test against India in Vizag in a five-match Test series. The England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir is playing his first match against India and took the spotlight with his bowling magic in the first innings. Though his favourite number is 13, he revealed the reason for choosing 67 as his jersey number. 

He said, “The reason, is that 13 is my favourite number and with the Lions they couldn’t give me 13. So I went with 67 [because] six plus seven equals 13″.

He also mentioned how England’s best bowler James Anderson inspired him in his career and also added that 100 players made their debut for England between him and Anderson.

He mentioned, “Jimmy is cap 613, I’m cap 713 so there’s a hundred caps between us. He’s an incredible lad, the experience is crazy and having Rooty out there helps a lot as well”.

Bashir’s Excellence Stops India at 396:

England’s off-spinner Shoaib Bashir made an amazing debut in Vizag. With his exceptional bowling performance, England restricted India to a score of 396 after losing the toss. He picked up two important wickets of Indian captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Axar Patel on the very first day. He also dismissed Mukesh Kumar and got three beautiful wickets. 

On his debut, Bashir said, “It was a very special moment receiving my Test Cap. For me to get Rohit Sharma as my first wicket was very, very special. He’s a great player of spin as well. Yeah, I just look so grateful to God and my family. They’ve supported me through thick and thin”.

Match Summary:

After facing a defeat by 28 runs in the first Test match, Team India is hungry to register their first win in the Test series through the second Test match. on February 2, the second Test commenced in the Vizag. After winning the toss, India decided to bat first. while batting first, when Indian batters were facing little struggle, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show. he played an exceptional knock of 209 runs in 290 runs. he smashed 19 boundaries and 7 over-boundaries.

Skipper Rohit Sharma struggled again. he was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir in 14 runs. Gill walked away after scoring 34 runs. the struggle continued for Shreyas Iyer. he got out after scoring 27 runs. Debutant Rajat Patidar scored 32 runs in 72 balls. England restricted the opponent to 396 runs. James Anderson’s magic remains the same. he picked up 3 wickets in 47 runs. Debutant Shoaib Bashir also picked up 3 wickets in 138 runs. Rehan Ahmed took 3 wickets in 65 runs.

While batting in the second innings, England gave a decent start. their first wicket got down in 59 runs, Duckett got out on 21 runs. Ollie Pope scored 23 and was dismissed by an excellent delivery by Jasprit Bumrah. In the 38 over, England already lost 5 wickets. they are 167/5 and trail by 229 runs.
