Pakistan captain Babar Azam was named ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year on Monday.
Babar is a top batsman with 405 runs in six games in 2021 and an average of 67.50 as Pakistan beat South Africa 2-1 in the series.
Architect Pakistan chasing 274 in the first ODI, Babar created a century and set the stage with 82 balls 94 in the final ODI. He was Pakistan’s only warrior when England swept Pakistan 3-0. He’s amassed 177 runs in three innings, but was unsupported as no other batsman scored more than 100 in the series.

Babar’s best performance this year came in a losing game – in the final against England.
Walking into the bat early in the inning, Babar sewed a 92-run stand with Imam-Ul-Haq to help Pakistan out of trouble. Initially, his approach was cautious, and he presented his half-century in 72 balls. He made up for that by finishing the next 50 with just 32 balls — his second ODI century of the year.
Marais Erasmus, Judge of the Year
South African referee Marais Erasmus has been named Referee of the Year for the third time after being honoured in 2016 and 2017. The 57-year-old officiated the just-concluded series between hosts South Africa and India.
In addition to the T20 World Cup final, Erasmus has overseen 20 international matches in three formats in 2021.
