Pat Cummins, 28, said on Saturday that Pat Cummins was focused on treating his appointment as Australia’s new test captain fairly and believed that limited leadership was “too much” for him.
Cummins became the first Australian pacemaker to lead the team in 65 years after Tim Payne resigned due to a “pornography” scandal earlier this month.
Earlier this month, limited captain Aaron Finch led the Australian team to the T20 World Cup for the first time. Cummins believed that split captain was suitable for the team.
“It may be too early to say, mainly because I started to take this role and see where we are going,” the Associated Press of Australia quoted Cummins as saying.
“My current instinct and preference is to have a separate captain.

“I think there are too many requirements, of course for me. I just want to focus on the cricket test.
“Aaron’s job is very good,” Cummins said. He said it is best if “someone can lead the white team to become their own team and develop in their own direction.”
“At the moment I am purely focused on testing, and this will remain the same for the foreseeable future.”
The 35-year-old Vinci is keen to lead the team until at least the 50-a-side World Cup in India in 2023, after which Australia may need to find his successor.
Cummins, who has always insisted that he doesn’t want to miss the cricket test, said that since getting the role of test captain, he has received a lot of news, but this feeling has not disappeared.
“It may not be complete,” he said after a practice session on the Gold Coast.
“I thought until I walked out of Gabba and saw a large group of home audiences, pulled up the loose green (hat) and went out to pitch the ball-then it might hit me. It’s kind of weird.”
The Gabba Stadium in Brisbane will host the first Ash Test of England on December 8. Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth are the other venues in the five-game series.
