England all-around player Ben Stokes declared himself “healthy and hungry” and began the Ashes series against Australia.

Stokes later joined the team, he took a break from a cricket game, regained his energy, and underwent a second operation on the fracture of his left index finger.

England captain Joe Root has been planning to prevent Stokes from returning to the team, but the all-around player looks ready to participate in the first test that will begin in Brisbane on December 8.

“Two months ago, I couldn’t hold the bat,” Stokes wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “There is still one week away from the first test. I am in good health and I am eager to participate in the big series.”

Stokes is the first group of England cricketers who arrived in Brisbane on November 6th before the Ashes.
