The West Indies Cricket Commission (CWI) will meet with Pakistani counterparts on Thursday to discuss whether to cancel the remaining tournaments in progress after five other tournament members, including three players, have tested positive for COVID-19 .
CWI stated in a statement a few hours before the start of the third Twenty20 International program in Karachi that the board of directors is meeting to “determine whether the tour can continue.”
The West Indies also plan to play three one-day international matches in Pakistan.
After Wednesday’s test, goalkeeper Shai Hope, spinner Akeal Hosein and all-around Justin Greaves, as well as assistant coach Roddy Estwick and doctor Akshai Mansingh were found to be positive.
“Therefore, all three players will miss the upcoming game, and all five players will remain isolated from other West Indies teams…” the CWI statement read.
“They will be quarantined for 10 days, or until they return a negative PCR test result.”
Fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell and all-rounders Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers tested positive early after arriving in Pakistan.
West Indies also did not have batter Devin Thomas, who injured his finger in the first T20 game.
