AFCON 2021: Ghana’s Tetteh banned for three matches after post-fight boxing

Ghana striker Benjamin Tate has been suspended for three games for assaulting his Gabon rivals in a post-match brawl. Grumpy 1-1 draw in Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

Tetteh knocked out Gabon’s Aaron Boupendza as players and officials got into a nasty altercation after the game.

He was sent off when the referee was informed of the incident by VAR, but refused to walk out of the dressing room to show the red card following the Group C clash in Yaoundé.

The 24-year-old, who only came on as a substitute in the final three minutes, was handed an additional one-game suspension for violence on Saturday following an automatic two-match ban.
