Yamal Tundra brings together volunteers from the International Volunteer Expedition Team – QNT Press Release


Moscow, December 9, 2021 (Global News Agency) – Russia, as the chairman of the Arctic Council, will host the exploration of Yamal, a volunteer expedition to the Yamal Tundra from December 10th to 14th. Twenty volunteers from member states of the Arctic Council will explore the Arctic tundra. The event is part of Russia’s plan to assume the chairmanship of the Arctic Council from 2021-2023.

The project was initiated by the participants of the first meeting of the Youth Project Office of the Arctic Council, which was held in Salhad in October 2020. The Exploring Yamal Project will promote voluntary service and cross-cultural dialogue among young people, and popularize local traditions, customs and understanding. The philosophy of the northern peoples strengthens the humanitarian ties between the Russian Arctic and makes the Yamal Arctic more attractive as a territory open to development and new ideas.
