Some people in Hong Kong started bidding for coffee at 4 in the morning, while others in the UK stayed up until midnight to end the auction. There were 3,700 bids in total, and those who wanted to take home the unique wines produced by Premiere raised $2.7 million.

Bidders from all over the world were active throughout the auction process, bringing home 149 lots handmade and donated by 153 wineries. Successful bidders made their debut in a mixed auction model in-room and online.

The top ones are wine donated by Shafer Vineyards, Collison Winery, Dyer Vineyards, Galica and Snowdon Vineyards, Memento Mori, Dana Estates, Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, ZD A joint batch of Wines, Favia, and Silver Oak, branded Napa Valley and Robert Mondavi Winery.
Premiere Napa Valley is the most important business week of the year for the Napa Valley winemaking community. This is not only a time to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and business partners, but also a time to engage in business conversations and establish new relationships.
Building on the momentum and excitement of Premiere’s 25th anniversary, coupled with the online options supported by Zachys, the impact in 2021 is very good. Nearly 250 trade accounts from more than 12 countries and 37 states in the United States participated. Among the registered accounts, only 60 personally participated. In addition, more than 1,000 wine traders and consumers participated in the virtual vintage discussion before the final auction.
“We are grateful to all those who joined us in the valley and almost from their hometown. This is the first industry event in Napa Valley since the pandemic. It is great to see our wineries, restaurants and hotels are full. And our business is booming,” Reiff said.
One of this year’s successes was the debut of the 2019 vintage. After the incredible 2018 vintage, the average bottle price of 2019 wines is higher than last year’s auction price. Many in the wine industry praise the elegance, brightness and balance that wine winemakers describe as dreams.
Napa Valley Vintners successfully completed two fundraising activities for its organization this year. A total of US$3.7 million was raised to promote, protect and strengthen its regional efforts. In February, NVV’s new library wine auction was held on the traditional dates of Premiere. Due to the pandemic, NVV split the two efforts and postponed the premiere auction until June for only one year, so that some transactions could go to Napa.
