But leading organizations find that providing psychological safety is equally important.
Psychological safety is a belief—or better yet knowing—that you will not be retaliated against or humiliated for raising a concern or question or pointing out a mistake.
“Companies and organizations want their employees to present ideas to them,” said Pauline E. Anton, president and CEO of the Texas Association of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (TAMACC). “They need to create a safe environment for openness and communication, allowing information to flow in both directions. This is also a good business mind.
“After all, the boots on the ground are usually the ones who know what’s going on.”
