Doosan, a global EPC leader in energy storage, will deploy a lithium-ion battery solution that will bring grid stability to the backbone of the southern New South Wales power grid.
Neoen has appointed Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd. and its subsidiary Doosan GridTech’s consortium to build a 100MW/200MWh Capital Battery, the largest independent battery storage system in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The consortium will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services and a 20-year operation and maintenance plan. Doosan GridTech’s Intelligent Controller® will coordinate energy arbitrage, fast frequency response and auxiliary services, and may provide synthetic inertia or black start services in the future.
Neoen’s Capital Battery will significantly improve grid stability and support ACT’s transition to total carbon neutrality by 2045. Its 627 battery cell systems are expected to be fully operational in mid-2023-providing electricity to help avoid fossil fuel generators failing under heat wave conditions during periods of high demand and large-scale power outages.
“We are honored that Neoen chose Doosan to provide its iconic energy storage system…
