NanoString Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ stock code:NSTG), a leading provider of life science tools for discovery and translational research, today reported preliminary financial and operational highlights for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending December 31, 2021.

“NanoString exited 2021 with a high profile and received more than 50 new orders for our GeoMx DSP system in the fourth quarter. Our commercial momentum and leadership in space biology resulted in a nearly 50% year-on-year increase in GeoMx revenue in the fourth quarter and All year,” said Brad Gray, President and CEO of NanoString. “Our expanding portfolio of space biology solutions covers the full range of applications for discovery and translational research, enabling us to continue to grow in the rapidly expanding space biology market. Space biology

GeoMx DSP

  • A record order for more than 50 GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) systems was generated in the fourth quarter, an increase of approximately 80% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020

  • Achieved a record GeoMx consumables revenue of US$6 million in the fourth quarter, which means that the annual consumables revenue for each installed system is approximately US$110,000

  • Approximately 30 GeoMx systems were installed in the fourth quarter, and as of December 31, 2021, the GeoMx installation base increased to approximately 255 systems

CosMx SMI

  • Through a limited program open to existing and new GeoMx customers, ensure that customers order 20 CosMx Space Molecular Imager (SMI) systems

  • Released the first high-resolution single-cell spatial data set generated from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue using CosMx SMI

  • Published a manuscript in the online journal BioRxiv describing the technology and performance of CosMx SMI
