LEGACY FOOD COMPANY, INC.Beef jerky products returned due to improper branding and unlicensed ingredients

Washington, May 26, 2021 -The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture announced today that Legacy Food Company, Inc., located in Rancho Cucamonga, California, has recalled approximately 67,895 pounds of beef jerky due to brand errors and undeclared ingredients. This product contains sesame oil, which is not declared on the product label.

The production date of beef jerky products is from July 20, 2020 to May 14, 2021.

• 10 pounds package containing “N4 Vua Kho Bo Curry Beef Jerky”.

• 10 pounds package containing “N8 Vua Kho Bo Flank Steak Beef Jerky Fish Sauce”.

• 10 pounds contains “N9 Vua Kho Bo House Special Beef Jerky Fish Sauce” package.

• 10 pounds contains “Vua Kho Bo Beef Jerky” package.

• 10 pounds contains “chili beef jerky” package.

• A 16-ounce package containing “Formosa Brand Chili Beef Jerky”.

The factory number of the 10-pound product to be recalled is “Est. 8256”, and the factory number of the above-mentioned 16-ounce product is “EST 2446”, and must pass the USDA inspection mark. These items are sold online and shipped to retail stores in California. The 10-pound product is sold in bulk packaging and removed from its original packaging, repackaged and relabeled for online sales. The retail store removes the product from its original packaging and places it in a saleable bin.

When it was determined that the label did not correctly list all the sub-ingredients, the problem was discovered during regular FSIS label verification activities.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that the recalling company has notified its customers of the recall and takes steps to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
