The finished reconstituted spider silk yarn is spun from raw spider silk produced by Prodigy Textiles, the company’s subsidiary located in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam.
Today’s announcement marks a major milestone in the mass production of Kraig Labs, Prodigy Textiles and recombinant spider silk. This production of Dragon Silk demonstrates Prodigy Textiles’ full integration into Vietnam’s vast silk textile industry. In 2020, Vietnam produced nearly 1,000 metric tons of ordinary silk.1 From start to finish, the same supply chain was used to create the first dragon silk made entirely in Vietnam.
