Vancouver, British Columbia, December 7, 2021 (Global News Agency) – Empire Metals (company), has acquired four mineral claims from Freeport-McMoRan Mineral Properties Canada Inc., with a total area of ​​6,834.47 hectares, for consideration of claims evaluation work expenditure and 0.5% of the net smelter return royalties.

The acquired creditor’s rights are linked to the company’s Sustut property, which is held by the wholly-owned subsidiary Selkirk Metals Corp. (“Selkirk”).It is located in the north-central British Columbia, about 40 kilometers south of the Kemess mine. The newly acquired claims cover two Minfile sites, namely A Bornite (094D 038) and A Chalcocite (094D057), which are copper-silver controlled by the fractures of bornite and chalcocite located in the Upper Triassic Savage Mountain formation. The Sustut mineralization host pyroclastic unit is a highly variable rock sequence, ranging in composition from pyroxene porphyry basalt to andesite, with an average strike of 100 degrees and a 15-degree slope to the southwest. Copper mineralization occurs in several layered and sub-parallel lenses, which are up to 45 meters thick and conform to the average bedding morphology. Mineralization includes hematite, pyrite, chalcocite, bornite, chalcopyrite and a small amount of natural copper. The Sustu deposit is divided into two main areas, the North and the South, which are separated by the deep East Cirque. The area of ​​the north area is approximately 900 x 700 meters, while the area of ​​the south area is 800 x 1,000 meters. Most of the deposits are located near the surface and can be mined through open pit mines. The focus of the metallurgical testing work and the resources in the table below are limited to the southern zone, where most of the drilling is conducted.

During 2021, Selkirk hired ABH Engineering to complete X-ray transmission (XRT) testing of Sustut mineralized samples from drill cores to determine whether XRT particle sorting can be used to reduce volume and improve the grade of feed to the concentrator. The XRT particle sorting study was conducted using 244 core samples from previous drilling. The XRT scan was performed using a TOMRA sorter from the Saskatchewan Research Council.

The test results show that particle sorting can significantly increase the economic life of the project. The copper content of the test sample is 1.12%, and the silver content is 4.33 g/ton. The sorted products are classified into 1.86% copper and 5.62 g/t silver, of which 87.1% copper and 68% silver are recycled into the sorted granular products. The sorting increased the feed grade of copper by 66.1% and the feed grade of silver by 29.7%. The sorter rejects 0.30% copper and 2.91 g/t silver, which contains 12.9% copper and 32% silver. ABH Engineering recommends that Selkirk continue further testing of XRT particle sorting on three to five larger samples ranging from low to high grade.

The Sustut copper deposit was acquired by Selkirk in 2007, when Selkirk acquired Doublestar Resources Ltd. Doublestar submitted a 43-101 compliance report titled “Technical Report Sustut Project, British Columbia”, dated October 8, 2004, and submitted to SEDAR on October 25, 2004.
