DOCOMO to roll out IPv6 single-stack support starting February 1 – QNT Press Release

TOKYO, Jan. 31, 2022–(JCN Newswire)– NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will roll out IPv6 single-stack support for select DOCOMO devices starting February 1, leading to deployments ahead of other telcos IPv6 in Japan is expected to continue to operate using IPv4 addresses for the time being.

Due to the increase in the number of IoT devices and the widespread adoption of 5G, IPv4 addresses are now in short supply globally, which was a key factor in DOCOMO’s decision to begin deploying virtually unlimited IPv6 addresses.
