Norfolk, Virginia, July 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRNewswire/ – Aviation Maintenance Academy (AIM) The 5th annual FLY Norfolk Jet Camp was held this summer.Sixteen middle school students Rhododendron Garden Middle School Participated in hands-on STEM activities with Norview Middle School to provide opportunities for exposure to aviation careers. Through multiple projects, students learned about the four principles of flight, space exploration, drones, and how the weather affects aviation. Speakers interacted with students and discussed various careers in the ever-evolving aviation industry.

Student projects include manufacturing metal clipboards and photo frames, engineering water bottle rockets, space landing vehicles, designing and building aircraft, practicing drone operations and radial engine starting. In addition, they explored aircraft cockpits and flight simulations, and participated in engine disassembly and reconstruction activities.
