Ottawa, Ontario, June 12, 2021 /CNW/-The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival (SSIF) today announced the winners of SSIMA’s 18 categories, including Sallen Fox And Jah’kota handles the on-site hosting duties of the two-hour event in the unceded Algonquin territory. Despite the fact that due to COVID restrictions, the festival had to move its location from the NAC, but the first award ceremony was seamless.It was broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube, and all nominees were broadcast live from the Zoom chat room, with pre-recorded introductions Trina Mather-Simard Executive producer of the award, awarding partner TD Bank Group, 2021 festival host: National Friendship Center Association, Ottawa Tourism and Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, as well as Burnstick, Joey Stylez and pre-recorded award presentations and performances Carson Gray, Silla and the rise, Desiree Dorian, Juno Prize winner Lila Gildi, And twin flames.

The party began with the opening prayer of Elder Anne Smith St. George. Soon thereafter, Ms. Fox referred to the “difficult days of our community after the discovery of 215 children…” and asked for a moment of silence before starting the proceedings that night.

Silla and the rise Was named Inuit Artist/Group of the Year and won an award for art video Mother root. Other Ottawa Regional artist, Mary Brighton Defeated the newcomer category, Rising Star.
