AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Provide solidarity and strength to the entire Orlando community today, because the city is the fifth anniversary Saturday of Pulse Nightclub’s meaningless and cruel attack on Orlando’s LGBTQ community in 2016. The city’s AHF provides HIV/AIDS care and services, including Free HIV testing. AHF supported Impulse group With one of the largest clubs in Orlando, Pulse Nightclub is one of its main community partners.
“Five years later, our hearts are still heavy but still hopeful today, because we continue to mourn the meaningless killing and the cruel injuries of many others in a murder that destroyed the entire Orlando community and most of the country,” Michael Cahan, Director of the Southern Bureau of the AIDS Medical Foundation. “It’s shameful and inspiring to see the entire Orlando community and the LGBTQ+ community across the country unite after such an unspeakable tragedy. The loss continues to respect.”
“At that time, as now, an attack on any one of us is an attack on all of us,” said Michael Weinstein, Chairman of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “Today, at this most solemn moment, we provide strength and unity to the Orlando community and the entire LGBTQ+ community around the world. We also vowed to use the resources we have and continue to do our best to fight all kinds of oppression, hatred and stigma. ”
Immediately after the attack, AHF set up a fund to help victims and survivors, and set up and coordinated it through the center in Orlando. The fund has helped countless community members whose lives have been disrupted by this tragedy.
On New Year’s Day in 2017, AHF dedicated its annual Rose Parade float to Orlando with a name “Remember and remember Orlando.” There is a flying flower pigeon and 49 beautiful white flower stars on the float, to commemorate each victim, and won the best non-commercial float award (Lathrop K. Leishman trophy) at the Rose Championship.
Recently, AHF installed a giant mural of Orlando tribute floats at its Orlando Out of the Closet thrift store (1349 North Mills Avenue Orlando FL 32803)
Impulse United is a volunteer group made up of active gay men, in cooperation with AHF, whose purpose is to use modern social methods to promote a healthier lifestyle. This association of groups achieves this vision by breaking down the social barriers of communities with such needs.
