AABB forms new alliance to support U.S. blood supply – QNT Press Release

Betheda, Maryland, February 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — To better address the current challenges of the nation’s blood supply, AABB (Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapeutics) is launching Strong Blood Supply Alliance – A coalition of organizations working to ensure adequate blood supply for all patients during the pandemic and beyond.

The initial 17 organizations that make up the alliance represent hospitals and phlebotomists across the country, as well as the more than 200,000 physicians who regularly provide blood to patients in need. Alliance members have pledged to promote communication about the status of the blood supply and work together to develop a coordinated advocacy and communication campaign to advocate for the importance of blood donation, the value of blood transfusions, and why a strong blood supply is critical to patient care. Member organizations also pledge to share best practices designed to support blood supply management.
