Mohammed Hamayel, 15, was killed in a weekly protest in the occupied West Bank village of Beta, against illegal Jewish settlements.

The Palestinian Authority stated that a Palestinian teenager was killed by Israeli fire during a clash between protesters and Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Friday that “15-year-old Mohammad Said Hamayel was killed in clashes with Israeli forces near Beta, south of Nablus,” and dozens of people were killed. The Palestinians demonstrated there against the expansion of illegal Jewish settlements nearby at the expense of their land.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that six other people were injured in the shooting.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the Israeli army fired live ammunition, tear gas and rubber-coated steel pellets at the demonstrators. The Israeli military did not immediately comment.

Hamayel was the eighth Palestinian child killed by the Israeli army this year, and Beta’s third Palestinian child. This has happened in recent months after Israeli settlers built an outpost on the village’s Sabih Mountain. protest activity.

The livelihoods of at least 17 Palestinian families (more than 100 people) are threatened because they rely on harvesting olives on land they have owned for generations.

In another protest in the village of Kufr Qaddoum, an 8-month-old baby inhaled tear gas after the Israeli army targeted Loay Samir’s home. Another 10-year-old child was injured in the leg by a rubber-coated steel bullet.

Murad Shteiwi, media coordinator of Kufr Qaddoum, said that the Israeli army attacked the village under the cover of a large number of live ammunition, adding that they attacked the houses of Palestinian residents, climbed up their roofs, and used it as a sniper camp.

Villages in the West Bank often hold demonstrations on Fridays against land confiscation, house demolition and Israeli settlements that are considered illegal under international law. The Israeli army usually responds to protests with disproportionate violence.

Approximately 475,000 Israeli settlers live in the occupied West Bank, where there are more than 2.8 million Palestinians.

On Thursday, the Israeli army shot and killed three Palestinians, including two security officials. In the gun battle that broke out in Jenin town, Israel appeared to have carried out an arrest raid overnight.
