If you read here for a while, you will know that I am a big fan of goal setting. As you know, over the years, I have shared my weekly goals and progress made every week. If so, you may have noticed that I stopped sharing weekly goals in March (This is my most recent weekly goal post Since that year, I can find it in the search).
This is not a major intentional or strategic move. Honestly, this just happened.we Agree to train Baby D and publish my book In the same week, due to these two things, I lived in survival mode for a month.
In the process, I took a break from setting goals… and never returned to it!
When I reflected on 2021 and what worked and which didn’t work, I realized that not setting a weekly goal from April to December will definitely affect my life in four specific ways:
1. I’m not that focused
Setting weekly goals allows me to focus on the important things or the week I want to prioritize. It’s also good to sit down and review the previous week and make adjustments for the next week. If I don’t do this, I think I’m just struggling a bit—not even aware of it!
2. I’m not that active
It’s amazing how motivating it is for me to set goals! Now, I think you should reduce and simplify some seasons. For example, I think you should not set too many goals when you are faced with major life opportunities (such as moving, changing jobs, having children, or bringing a new child into your home). Foster care or adoption).
However, after the dust settled and we got along well with Baby D, I never returned to the practice of setting goals every week. I look back on the past year and see in what ways it has affected my motivation and productivity.

3. I read less books
Must be one of the reasons I read fewer books in 2021 It is the result of not setting simple reading goals every week. I think I also started such different books and worked hard to finish them-I think this is partly because I didn’t set some specific goals for reading.
(Incidentally, I did read 50 books in 2021…But this is a significant decrease compared to the past few years. Yes, please stay tuned, because I have an article with my favorite reading in 2021! )
4. I forgot my 2021 goal
Okay, so this is really awkward, but one of the biggest ways that not setting a weekly goal affects my life is that I completely forget that I have actually created a list of goals for 2021. For some reason, I finished the second half of this. Last year I thought that other than releasing my new book and proposing themes for my next book, I didn’t really set a goal for 2021.
I searched for something on my blog a few days ago and found a post I put together My 2021 goals My jaw dropped. I don’t remember this post at all! This shows how important it is to practice weekly how to set weekly goals and remind you of your annual goals and work hard to cut those who have weekly goals! If anything, at least it means you actually set an annual goal! !
So you have it. Surprising-or maybe not so surprising? — There is no lesson in setting weekly goals 75% of the year!
