“I can’t do this. It’s too much. I’m scared.” On the first night Baby D arrived, I didn’t fall asleep almost all night. I feel completely overwhelmed, at a loss.
When they told us that he had Down syndrome and cleft lip (they didn’t realize he also had a cleft palate) + a feeding tube, I expected an 8-month-old baby, which was a bit delayed. I didn’t expect him to appear as a malnourished baby who weighs only 11 pounds, is wearing clothes that are 0-3 months old, and does not respond. I know he needs a lot of medical care, and DCS doesn’t know the contact information/names of any of his doctors or experts, I don’t know what I’m doing-and Jessie was out of town that week!
In the last episode of this year’s podcast, Jesse and I sat down to talk about what we learned in 2021, and the whole theme was how this cute boy completely changed our lives. I can tell one story after another, telling the specific ways of God appearing and responding to prayers, helping us find all the experts in record time, bringing the right medical professionals into our lives at the right time, and protecting in the process We don’t know so much about the little D, but lead us so faithfully through many terrible moments and nights.
When we saw God appear, our faith and trust in God not only greatly expanded and strengthened, but also as eloquent as Jesse said (my tears were streaming down): “When Baby D came to us, he Multiple operations are needed. But what we don’t know is that God wants to use his little life to perform operations on our hearts.”
Indeed, this little boy has completely changed all of us in profound ways. He is one of the greatest gifts we have experienced as a family. It is difficult for me to express in words how deeply this boy was fascinated by us and changed their hearts forever!
We can never dream of what we will prepare for our families in 2021, but God will write the best story!
