I took Caitlin out to celebrate her birthday (after we traveled home from Kansas). We went shopping and tried this new juice shop. This is $$, but great!
I Post this on Instagram last week:
“Does it cause her trauma?” These are the things you want to know when you agree to foster care. There are many things to think, pray and consider.
When we received a call about Baby D, we all felt a very strong desire to say “yes”, and we knew we should say “yes”-even though we didn’t know much about his case, how long he would stay in our house, Nor is it possible consequences. But we want to walk by faith, not live in fear.
guess what? Baby D is not only a gift from our family, but Kierstyn also loves him very much! She is like a little mother to him…always make sure he is okay, try to feed him the breast pump, comfort him when he makes a fuss, and-her new thing-try to change his diaper!
He didn’t cause her anxiety and jealousy, but constantly made her laugh and smile, which brought out the whole nurturing side that we didn’t know she had. (Her first word is his name! She loves him very much!) And I think, in turn, she will prompt him to work harder to learn new skills because he wants to keep up with her.
Saying “yes” and jumping into the unknown can be scary, but it can also be some of the greatest (and unexpected!) catalysts for blessings and growth.
I have to go out for lunch with a friend, and then go out for dinner with another friend. This is my dinner at Uncle Julios-so delicious!
He has made great progress in treatment and is very eager to try many new things!
Watch him sit up! This is a new skill we have been researching!
Jesse and I went on a date at The Fainting Goat Coffee. Jesse has never been here before, so I took him to have a good time!
We took our three young children to the local July 4th celebration.
We play in the children’s pool together (Little D likes it; Kierstyn is not his fan!)
And spent a family afternoon using Slip N’Slide.
He likes the feeling of grass!
Silas and Jesse have participated in many Spike Ball tournaments recently.
She really likes makeup-if you don’t know. ???? She grabbed my lip gloss and tried to apply some.
Most afternoons/evenings, I always take her out for a leisurely walk. This is the perfect end of the day. I listen to my audiobooks, we stop to look at the flowers, we pick up the branches, we talk to the neighbors passing by, we just enjoy one-on-one time.
I took Caitlin out to have a drink and celebrate because she had just accepted her first job interview. When she turned 14 years old, she started researching local places to recruit 14-year-old children, then applied for some, and finally found a job in a retail store-which was very suitable for her!
Speaking of Caitlin, she also took part in the figure skating test. She has some ambitious goals in skating, one of which is to pass multiple levels next year.
She bought this skating dress online. I gave her a budget, and she looked at it until she found one that she liked was within her budget (it has been worn a few times with a small hole on it, so this is half the price of the new one.) !)
She passed the next level of actual combat test. On the day of the test, she was with one of her coaches.
They all want me to hug them when I get to bed together-this is very common! I don’t know if I can have them for a longer time at the same time, but I cherish these moments and days!
Last Saturday and Sunday, Silas participated in a baseball game. In the past few months, we have seen him make great progress in pitching, batting and running, and it is fun to see him do what he loves.
This happened at the end of one of the games, so beautiful! In addition to baseball skills, we also thank Silas for the friendship and character he cultivated through baseball.
This may be one of the best highlights of the past two weeks-we must let the champion come in one afternoon/evening!
Words cannot express how deeply we love this cute boy!
When he got off the car at our house, he and Kierstyn ran around and shouted to each other, hugging over and over again. (Watch the video of their hug here.)
We are grateful for him and his mother to thrive together! We are also very grateful to her for wishing that we continue to live in his life regularly. Her kindness to us touched us deeply. (Also: Do you know one of the most heartwarming things? He screams every time he visits us, and he screams when he sees his mother pick him up at the end of the interview!)
(By the way, if you’re new here: Champ is a cute baby we brought home from the neonatal intensive care unit last year and was fostered for 8 months. Kierstyn was born 4 weeks after we brought him home, and the two of them This relationship is very close. He reunited with his mother in early December. Saying goodbye to him is one of the hardest things our family has ever done, but in order to get the gift of loving him, we will do it again in one breath. He His life has changed our lives forever, and we are honored to be part of his story!)
