Welcome to my book update post, where I will share my recently completed books + my honest thoughts and star ratings on them.
My reading goals for 2021
In 2021, I set a goal of reading 3 books per week — One fiction book, one non-fiction book and one audiobook every week. I know this is a bold goal, but reading is something I like. It is a way for me to learn, challenge my mind, improve the abilities of writers and communicators, and gain spirit and encouragement through inspiring stories.
I have several bookshelves full of books (Mainly I gained freedom), so I decided to select 52 books from my bookshelf to read this year (see Here is a list of 52 books I plan to read in 2021). I also read other books that I found/sent that sparked my interest. In addition, I plan to read a lot of audio books (I get my free from the Libby app And just started to try out the Hoopla app).
Here are four books I recently completed:
Orphan’s story
Did you know that some circus companies hid Jews in their companies during World War II? I didn’t know until I listened to this book!
I like this book, but it is my least favorite audiobook this week. Mainly because I think some stories are out of touch, and many of them feel unrealistic. In other words, its narrative is very good, if you like World War II novels, you might like this book.

Every little victory
Todd Tilghman may be famous for being the winner of The Voice, but he has won many small victories in his life, which gave him the courage to try The Voice and persist until the end. This book chronicles the stories and journeys of him and his wife-from their early loss of marriage, to financial difficulties, to their appeals for adoption, to dealing with unexpected fame. This is a story about teamwork, relying on God, going out with faith and saying “yes”-even if it scares you!
I only give it 3 stars because I think the story is jumping around in some places, and there are many repetitions that distract me, but I underline and fold the ears in many parts of the book so you can’t read the book !

Blue Star Woman
I listened to this audiobook and found it to be a very fascinating story (also well narrated). Although some of the stories feel quite incredible and impossible, they let me see another World War II story that I have never heard of before: Jews hiding in the sewers in order to survive the Holocaust.

Now I want to read Girl in green sweater, First-hand retelling the story of 14 months in the sewer, and this book, The Sewers in Lviv: the heroic story of surviving the Holocaust. The last year of the war
This is my favorite book this week. This is the beautiful story of two young girls-one from a Japanese family and one from a German family-who met in the Crystal City detention camp during World War II.
This story not only attracted you from the beginning, but it really made you take a step back and think about what it would be like to be an American citizen—not your own fault—and you ended up in a detention camp. we. Like the two books above, this is a World War II perspective that I have never considered before. I think this is a story that is very worth reading or listening (the narration of the audiobook is well done). This makes me stop to think about how we reach conclusions out of fear, and how these conclusions hurt others deeply or make them feel excluded.
My only criticism of this book is that it became a bit far-fetched and detailed in the last part-the post-war part. I kind of feel that that part may be omitted or cut off, because it feels that it has started to delay a bit.
