Welcome to my book update post, where I share my recently completed book + my honest thoughts and star ratings.
My reading goals for 2021
In 2021, I set a goal of reading 3 books per week 1 fiction book, 1 non-fiction book and 1 audiobook every week. I know this is a bold goal, but reading is my hobby. It is a way for me to learn, challenge my thinking, improve the level of writers and communicators, and be inspired and inspired by inspiring stories.
I have several shelves full of books (Most of my time), so I decided to select 52 books from the shelf for reading this year (see List of 52 books I plan to read in 2021). I will also read other books I found/sent to me, which aroused my interest. In addition, I plan to read a lot of audio books (I can get free from the Libby app).
Why i haven’t published a book review recently
It has been a long time since I posted a book review here.I haven’t read too many books in a month My book is released with We said to raise baby D.
Then, well, I am a little unaccustomed to sharing what I read here. bad!
I had a psychological plan to take a few weeks off during the book release whirlwind. Even though my goal this year is to read 3 books a week, although my goal is far behind me, it’s only May. I Can still try to catch up. I didn’t know I would reach the goal of reading three books a week, but hey, there would be no harm in reaching a high goal-especially when there are 6 1/2 months left in the year!
I only watched 5 of the 52 books I plan to read in 2021, So I also need to cheer on this list! Therefore, thank you for being my accountability partner in this regard. This is a strong year!
Three books I recently completed
Slow growth: Lessons learned to liberate the mind from an accidental farm girl
I am a big fan of Jennifer Dukes Lee. Not only was she my M&A editor at Bethany House, but her book had a profound impact on my life.
In her latest book “Slow Growth”, she learned a lesson from agriculture-how we learn from the slow process of planting, watering, and waiting and harvesting. If you are in a season where nothing grows in your life, or your growth rate is much slower than you hoped, or you want to stop chasing and relax your heart, then I think this book will really encourage you.
Verdict: 3 stars
Open the door: lessons learned in one year of raising children
Keep the door open This is an honest and truthful description of a family’s decision to say “yes” for raising children. They recorded the ups and downs, heartaches and heart-pounding situations of foster care throughout the year.
If you are a foster parent, or are considering entering foster care, or know someone as a foster parent, and you want to better understand their world, then this will be a good book. It took me a few hours to complete this book, but the stories in the book may accompany me in the coming months or even years!
Verdict: 4 stars
I saw that this audiobook can be downloaded on the Libby app, so I downloaded it-the content of the story has no meaning at all.
At first, it was a bit confusing because it moved back and forth between two completely different stories. But in the end, it weaves them together nicely.
This is a short book, but if you listen to audiobooks, its narrative is good. The story tells the story of two Sudanese children who have gone through unimaginable hardships and tribulations. Although they have gone through many difficulties, they persevered.
If you have older children, this will be a great book. As a family, you can read or listen… I think it will be a springboard for so many discussions.
Verdict: 4 stars
Recently watched movies
Kathrynne and I recently took a look When happiness comes knocking. Jesse and I watched it a long time ago, but I like to watch it again. It is based on a true story, and it reminds us well that when we don’t know what it’s like to wear other people’s shoes, we can often make judgments quickly. This is also the encouragement of unremitting efforts!
