(Reuters)-When the market opened on Friday, concerns about rising inflation were triggered by strong job growth in July, while the delta variant of the coronavirus cast a shadow over the broader economic rebound.
The opening rose 13.2 points, or 0.04%, to 35077.44. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was flat at 4,429.07, and fell 30.9 points, or 0.21%, to 14,864.216 at the opening.
