(Reuters)-Simone Byers thanked her secret visit to the Japanese Stadium on Wednesday for overcoming a series of “twists and turns” that might end her Olympic Games in Tokyo, and then she fights for a bronze medal on the balance beam.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Byers spent several days away from the spotlight in the training facility at Shun Paradise University, where she was able to overcome the disorientation she experienced while performing anti-gravity skills.

She tweeted: “I will always thank Shun Tian Tian for allowing me to train alone to regain my skills.”

“The Japanese are one of the cutest people I have ever met.”

According to reports, Shun Tiantang is located in a suburb outside Tokyo, where Byers was able to restore confidence in privacy on soft mats and foam pits in the gym.

The 24-year-old American came to Japan to set a record of six gold medals, but when she withdrew from the opening ceremony team competition after completing only one vault, she shocked the sports world.

She said she needs to prioritize her mental health, and it looks like she will not be back, but she made a comeback in the last game on Tuesday and won the bronze medal.

The silver and crossbar bronze medals enabled Byers to win seven medals in his career Olympics.

Byers was praised for his frankness and for drawing attention to mental health issues during the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognizes that more needs to be done for the well-being of athletes.

“Psychologically, I still have a lot to do, but exposing topics related to mental health means the whole world to me,” Byers said as he left the Olympic stage.

“People must realize that, in the final analysis, we are humans, not just entertainment.”
