LONDON (Reuters)-The late Princess Diana’s favorite place. The sunken garden of her former home in London, Kensington Palace, has been redesigned to commemorate her statue. Her sons Prince William and Prince Harry will be present in the week. Four unveiled.

The palace stated that the garden has been redesigned to create a “more reflective” environment to commemorate the princess who died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

“This is a very special project because the sunken garden is the favorite place of Diana, Princess of Wales,” Pip Morrison, who designed the new layout, said in a statement.

“We worked carefully to ensure that the new layout and planting scheme complemented the statue and provide a peaceful place to commemorate the princess for those visiting Kensington Palace.”

The work on the Sunken Garden began in 2019, and it took 1,000 hours of planting, involving more than 4,000 Diana’s favorite flowers, including 100 forget-me-nots and 300 tulips.

The garden was originally created in 1908 at the instigation of King Edward VII, and the area was previously occupied by potting sheds and greenhouses.
