As part of a lottery aimed at increasing the state’s vaccination levels, West Virginia is offering vaccinated residents a chance to win guns.
Governor Jim Justice (Jim Justice) announced that the state will draw several famous outdoor vaccines in West Virginia in the first vaccine draw held on June 20 (Father’s Day and the state’s 158th birthday). Lifestyle awards.
The Ministry of Justice said at a press conference on Tuesday that residents who have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine will have a chance to win one of five customized shotguns or one of five customized shotguns.
Other prizes in the June 20 draw include two custom pickup trucks, five lifetime hunting and fishing permits, and 25 weekend trips to West Virginia State Park.
The June 20 bonus is a relatively large amount of US$1 million in cash and two full scholarships. These bonuses are for any institution in West Virginia for residents of 12-25 years old. Justice made fun of cash, scholarships and pickup trucks last week, but did not provide details on when these awards were awarded.
After the first draw, the state plans to give away $1ma every week for five consecutive weeks. The final draw will be held on August 4th. A vaccinated resident will receive a grand prize of US$1.588 million, and the runner-up will receive a grand prize of US$588,000. (These figures reflect the state’s “Beat 588 Bad” campaign, which refers to an estimated 588,000 West Virginians who reportedly expressed some degree of reluctance to get vaccinated.)
“The faster we get people across the finish line, the more lives we save. That’s all there is to it,” said Justice. “If the label continues to run, the cost is huge. The number of hospitalizations is huge. We have to get all of us across the finish line.”
Justis was one of the first governors to consider using incentive programs to increase vaccination rates. A plan was announced last week to allow vaccinated residents between the ages of 16 and 35 to qualify for savings bonds or a $100 gift card, an evolution of the plan he first disclosed in late April.
According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as of May 30, West Virginia has received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine for 40.6% of its residents. It ranks 42nd among the states in the United States, and the national average is 50.5%.
The state ranks 39th in the United States, with 34% of its total population vaccinated, compared to the national average of 40.7%.
