(Reuters)-The British competition regulator said on Wednesday that it has approved AstraZeneca (NASDAQ:) to acquire US-based Alex Brothers (NASDAQ:) for US$39 billion. The company decided not to conduct a more extensive investigation of the transaction after the initial assessment.
