Airbus has expressed confidence in the recovery of the aviation industry from the pandemic and has developed plans to significantly increase the production of its popular single-aisle passenger aircraft.
Euronair confirmed that it plans to increase the production of its A320 series aircraft to 45 per month in the fourth quarter and told its suppliers to increase production to 64 per month by the second quarter of 2023. A statement said that the organization will also explore high interest rates of 70 by the beginning of 2024 and 75 by 2025.
The company expects that by the fall of 2022, monthly production of its larger A350 jets will increase from five to six per month.
Chief Executive Guillaume Faury said: “The aviation industry has begun to recover from the Covid-19 crisis.”
Faury stated that the information communicated to suppliers will “provide visibility to the entire industrial ecosystem to ensure necessary functionality and be prepared when market conditions require it.”
When the pandemic first broke out last year, Airbus and its American competitor Boeing cut production of single-aisle and dual-aisle aircraft by one-third to one-half.
Despite the regional outbreak, the prospects for the long-term recovery of aviation have improved with the promotion of vaccines on a global scale. One of the industry’s biggest challenges is to ensure that its long and complex supply chain is ready to increase production to meet anticipated demand.
