(Reuters)-“Little Ville” TV show actress Alison Mack was sentenced to three years in prison on Wednesday for her role in NXIVM, a cult organization headquartered in New York, in which women were accused of Branded the initials of his leader and was ordered to have sex with him.
Mike, 38, pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy in 2019, and was sentenced in Brooklyn by U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis. She is expected to begin serving her sentence on September 29.
Before being sentenced, Mike tearfully apologized to the victim and his family, calling her behavior in the group “abusive, abominable and illegal.” She said she had completely abandoned NXIVM leader Keith Raniere, who was sentenced last year to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and other crimes.
“Getting out of this illusion is the hardest experience in my life,” Mike said.
The former NXIVM member testified in Lanier’s trial that he established a secret sorority within the organization, in which the “slave” promised to obey the “master” completely, and Lanier was at the highest level as the “master”. The women were fasted, put on Lanier’s initials, and in some cases were forced to have sex with him.
The leaders of the organization are said to have used nude photos and other compromised materials to keep lower-level members consistent. Mike is both the “slave” of Lanier and the “master” of other women. In her plea, she admitted that she threatened to release harmful information about them to coerce two women into unpaid work.
One victim, Jessica Joan, spoke in the sentencing on Wednesday, claiming that Mike had manipulated her emotionally and eventually ordered her to “seduce” Lanier and promised that doing so would solve the trauma of her previous sexual abuse. Joan said that she did not obey the order.
Joan calls Mike a “predator and evil person” and says that she and Lanier are “one size fits all.”
Garaufis said that Mack was an “important accomplice” to Raniere’s “heinous crime” and rejected her lawyer’s request for family imprisonment or probation.
However, the judge agreed with the prosecutor that she was commendable for cooperating with Lanier, and the sentence imposed was much shorter than the 14 years required by federal guidelines. He also said that he believed her remorse was sincere.
“Smallville” is a TV series that aired from 2001 to 2011. It tells the story of the young Clark Kent before he became Superman. Mike plays his close friend Chloe Sullivan.
