Black fathers play an indispensable role in our community, and there is nothing more refreshing than seeing fathers sharing special moments with their children. Black fathers not only worked hard to support their families, but also shouldered the task of fighting the stigma of black fathers’ absence from their children.
Sean Williams is one of the fathers. After a white woman near him praised him for appearing in his daughter’s life, he has been working hard to eliminate negative thoughts. Soon after that day, Sean established the “Dad Gang”-an organization dedicated to sharing the content of black dads we like to see, and creating a safe space for black dads to connect with their children and each other!
“For black dads, having a safe space is really important,” Sean told us. “Being a father is a very fragile and personal experience, so being able to share a space with men who are going through the same things and experiencing the same experience allows us to relax our vigilance.”
In addition to being an active father to children, Sean is now responsible for being an active support system for thousands of black fathers around the world. In order to do this, Dad’s Gang is taking some stimulant measures to celebrate fathers who exceed their daily father’s responsibilities.
TDG’s first “Very Special Award” aims to recognize fathers who use content to change society’s view of black fathers-this is part of modern fatherhood, which is important to understand that black fathers are indeed the stupidest people!
“Modern fatherhood looks terrible,” Sean said. “Unfortunately, I got a compliment and said that I am happy to see me insist on being an active dad. I think the problem is that she sees my hat facing backwards, wearing my Jordan shoes and chains-and an active dad It’s not what she saw. But the reality is that the identity of the father is different for everyone. We are very diverse.”
Dad Gang was founded in 2016. Since then, Sean has launched a non-profit organization called “Dad’s Random Behavior” dedicated to helping black fathers in need. Sean worked with Walmart to provide $50,000 to fathers in need affected by COVID.
