Judge Sergio C. Tapia II let Walker’s lawyers know that they must submit the appropriate documents for such a hearing.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated that the death penalty will not be sought in this case, but as we reported, the next highest possible sentence will be life imprisonment without parole.

When we spoke with Deputy District Attorney Hillary Williams today, she declined to comment on why her office decided not to seek the death penalty.

We also contacted Walker’s attorney Christopher Darden, but have not yet received a response to the required bail hearing.

Walker, 20, was the only suspect who was an adult when Pop Smoke died. He and three young men were accused of killing Pop Smoke in a robbery in February 2020.

At the preliminary hearing, Williams stated that Walker had scouted the house a few hours ago and knew that the teenagers planned to rob Pop Smoke at gunpoint in order to obtain his Instagram photos earlier in the day. Flashing ice cubes.
