In an era of frequent discussions of race relations and color discrimination on social media, Masika Kalysha conveyed a message to blacks, that is, the “praise” that the black community often hears.
Masika told her truth on her Twitter. This sentence was once considered a compliment, but now many people think it is a problem that caused people of color in the community.
Masika talks directly to black men, letting them know that asking black women if they are mixed is not as likable as people think.
“Dear black men, when you see a black woman with curly hair and/or light skin,’what mixed wit’ is not a compliment. It is actually very ignorant,” Masika tweeted .
Masika’s message fits the sentiments of those who think that black people don’t have to be mixed in order to be considered beautiful or exotic. It also illustrates similar emotions, that curly hair and lighter skin are not necessarily unique to mixed races.
Masika’s tweets must have sparked some controversy on social media. Some people agree with her and others, but not that much.
“Laugh out loud is true or told”[you’re] Really beautiful for a dark-skinned girl It’s definitely not a supplement,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Father don’t ask me if I am mixed because of my skin color or hair texture. This means that black ppl cannot have these types of things, which is untrue. Another woman tweeted that it was insulting and answered My problem with black people and black people.
