Roommate, DaBaby is caught in a network of criticisms from multiple directions, including other artists. After the rapper made false and problematic comments on the HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ communities, industry giants like Madonna, Elton John, and most recently Quest Love have spoken out. The lead singer of Roots criticized DaBaby in a lengthy Instagram post, calling his behavior “wrong.”
Quest Love attached a photo to the post, which lists seven artists, including The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, The Isley Brothers, Rihanna, Sade, Meg Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Sault. DaBaby’s name was scraped off in the post.
“I suppose someone asked me if I was planning an updated version of #SummerOf Soul and who would be my behavior,” Quest Love wrote. “I gave a list of my dreams, and now I am updating my list, because it is 2021, fucking nonsense. I am not here for any barbarians.”
Soon after Quest Love’s post went live, DaBaby directly responded that he didn’t know who Quest Love was.
“Don’t care about losing you as a fan of my boy, haha @questlove,” DaBaby wrote in an Instagram story post. “You or anyone else who wants to play follow the leader.”
He continued to express his thoughts in more Story posts, saying “These n **** really think they have influenced people to stop fucking influence.” DaBaby doesn’t seem to back down from his position and comments, he Said: “I was greatly affected, and it was crazy.”
He finally said that people “follow the trend” when criticizing him, but he cannot be bullied. He also accused critics of “trying to gain new fans” from his “situation” because their work did not show up-“quiet” in his words.
“N **** is best to hit the studio or sum,” DaBaby wrote.
Quest Love did not respond to DaBaby’s reply, but chose to release the song “Le Sweat” and the poster at the streaming dance party to be held on Friday night.
DaBaby released a clip of his latest music video for the song “Give What Should Be Given”. Since its release on July 28, the video contains vivid sex clips and controversial lyrics, and has been played more than 2.4 million times on YouTube.
