In what might potentially be a game-changing over, Jos Buttler was dropped by Akash Deep of his own bowling in the ongoing IPL match between the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Buttler was on 10 when he was dropped by Deep in the first ball of the sixth over. The ball stopped on the pitch which forced Buttler to check on his shot. He ultimately survived as Akash Deep couldn’t hold onto the catch after his follow -through had been done.
He was also subsequently dropped again in the fourth ball of the same over, this time the culprit being David Willey, who with his desperate effort at deep square leg couldn’t manage to hold on. Buttler was on 19 at that moment and the two chances could prove costly for the bowling team.
Buttler went on to smack a magnificent hundred during his team’s last outing against the Mumbai Indians which was influential in the Royals defeating Mumbai to go 2-0 in the current TATA IPL Season. With two dropped catches, things may seem bad for the Challengers as Buttler has the ability to score big once again and take his team to the victory line for the third consecutive time.

The English batsmen has started slow in this match but it was similar to what happened during the last match where Buttler was rather slow at the end of the innings but somehow managed to capitalize on a weaker Mumbai Indians bowling attack which helped him to reach his second IPL hundred.
I’m a bit nervous as it is hard to tell if it is a good score or not with the short boundary on one side. I got frustrated towards the end as I slowed down. “I couldn’t get the ball away as I would have liked and that’s why I feel we could have got a few more. But we would have taken (a target of) 194 at the start.” – Buttler had said after the ton.
Here against RCB he once again started slow, scoring at less than run-a-ball in the powerplay overs, only the second time for Buttler in the IPL since 2018.
