Sol Bamba: Cardiff City defender confirms he is cancer-free

Cardiff city centre defender Sol Bamba has confirmed that he does not have cancer after completing chemotherapy.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in January and started treatment immediately.

On May 8, the Côte d’Ivoire international returned to action against Rotherham United on Cardiff City on May 8 after winning another home run.

Bamba has thanked all his supporters during his efforts on social media and hopes to appear on Bluebirds again soon.

“Hello everyone, I want to tell you that I am cancer-free now! This is undoubtedly incredibly exciting news for me and my family. We are now on the moon,” Bamba posted on Instagram .

“I really want to thank everyone who has always supported me, whether it’s commenting, conveying information, providing compliments, or any other way, it undoubtedly gave me more strength to complete this work.

“Most importantly, I want to thank the NHS for taking care of my family. I will always thank you for your work.

“Thanks to my whole family, my friends, and of course the club and everyone in the football industry who helped me meet this challenge. I wish you all a good day and see you on the pitch soon.”

Bamba has been playing for the Blue Jays since 2016, when he worked with the Leeds United team and was the team’s main performer before injuries limited his playing time.

The central defenders are rock solid for Cardiff as they were promoted to the Premier League in the 2017-18 season.

Prior to his injury in July 2019, he had been consistent with the Blue Jays and could only be seen after the club was relegated to the championship.

Since joining the club, Bamba has played for Cardiff more than 100 times, and now, since he will be fully restored, he is expected to continue his impressive defensive performance.

The defender is expected to use the preseason to keep fit and bring a greater impact to Cardiff’s next game.
