Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the Ashes schedule for its men’s and women’s teams. The men’s team will start the “Ash” campaign in Gabba on December 8. The second Ashes Test will be held on December 16 at the Adelaide Oval Circuit, which will be followed by a traditional Boxing Day test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The New Year’s test will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 5. The men’s ashes will be tested at the Perth Oval on January 14.
Before playing in England, the men’s team will have a one-time test at the Bloomston Arena and will face Afghanistan. Australia captain Tim Paine will lead Australia for the first time in his hometown of Tasmania.
After the test, the men’s team will face the Chappell-Hadlee trophy and a T20I in three ODI competitions from January to February. Next is the 5 T20I series against Sri Lanka from February 11th to 20th.
The women’s Ashes will kick off at the Manuka Oval in a one-time test in Canberra on January 27. Then in February there will be three T20Is and three ODIs, of which Victoria’s North Sydney Oval, Adelaide Oval and Junction Oval will serve as venues. In the multi-format system, the team with the highest score wins the series.
After the timetable was announced, Nick Hockley, the interim chief executive of Cricket Australia, hoped that in the summer, the crowd would feel their presence. He said in a statement: “We all want a summer full of people and an Ashes atmosphere that everyone is accustomed to. In a perfect world, we will welcome the Barmy army back to these shores and spend a summer full of singing. Sportsmanship. Of course, we will be guided by the Australian government in all matters related to international travel.”
During his visit to Afghanistan, Hockley added: “We are very happy that they can come this year. They were unable to visit last year, which was disappointing. I have been here to talk to the Afghan ambassador, and I know that the entire Afghan community in Australia feels very Excited, so I certainly hope that as many of them as possible can travel to Hobart.”
