Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Chosen to keep three star cast members for last year’s campaign ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction.
The team retains their former captain and batting great Virat Kohli alongside them, except for exploding mid-level bat Glenn Maxwell and young, promising Indian racer Mohammed Siraj.
RCB kept Kohli for INR 150 crore, Maxwell for INR 11 crore and Siraj for INR 7 crore. Their remaining INR 570 crore purse now goes to the IPL 2022 mega auction where they will rebuild their lineup.
Today’s focus is on their most likely overseas bids. RCB will definitely be chasing players from abroad as they look to cover the bases for the upcoming season.

RCB may have a hard time after Jonny Bairstow in the upcoming big IPL 2022 auction.
Five of RCB’s most likely overseas bids at IPL 2022 Super Auction
1. David Warner
Last year’s IPL edition saw then-RCB captain Kohli push himself to open up with young Devdutt Padikkal. But, despite the good results of the move, Kohli could once again drop to third and guide the team’s midfield, now weakened by the absence of AB de Villiers.
That’s where RCB will likely try to push Warner into the team. Warner is an experienced and explosive Australian opener, which will make Kohli more comfortable returning to third in the lineup. Warner could also be a captain candidate that RCB might consider. He led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the 2016 IPL trophy and scored 5,449 runs in the IPL with a 139.96 hit rate.
2. Jonny Ballstow
Likewise, if it weren’t for Warner, Bairstow could prove to be a great addition to RCB’s big IPL 2022 auction. The aggressive British batsman is one of the giants of the modern limited game.
Bairstow was seen by SRH as a possible candidate to keep him, but he is now about to make a fortune at auction as the 2016 champion chose not to keep him. Possibly on the lucky side of having his RCB.

Bairstow scored 248 runs in seven innings at India’s difficult pitch in the last IPL. In addition to his batting ability, he could provide their XI with a larger balanced RCB as a wicket option.
3. Kaji Solabada
A clear area of focus for RCB will be their overseas fast bowling. Over the years, the team tried various options, but none really worked. At this stage of his career, Rabada has also had some tough times in white-ball cricket – he has 15 wickets but 8.14 runs per game in IPL 2021 – but that shouldn’t Lower his value at upcoming auctions upwards.
He could be one of RCB’s leading candidates considering they need to fill the void in fast bowling. The presence of Rabada will also help give young Siraj more room for comfort and an experienced mind to support himself at the other end. This will allow Siraj to develop faster and become a more well-rounded bowler.
4. Jason Holder
RCB have tried the likes of Dan Christian and David Wiese before them as their overseas fast bowling all-rounders, but they never really proved their authority. This is an area of their game that the think tank hopes to fill with more well-rounded batsmen.

Holder also has limitations on his T20 play, but if used at the right time and in a specific role, he can prove to be very effective against RCB’s mid-to-low.
The presence of Holder will give RCB more depth as a batting unit without compromising their bowling quality. Regardless, bowling is his forte. The West Indies pacer has taken 16 wickets from his eight IPL 2021 outings for SRH with an economy of 7.75.
5. Liam Livingstone
Another fit-for-purpose all-around cricketer is England’s Liam Livingstone, an aggressive intermediate right-hand batsman who can also chip away with his useful leg rest combo.
Livingstone’s bat commitment is well known on the T20 circuit, and he showed his bowling prowess during last year’s T20 World Cup. He took 6 wickets while only running 5.73 runs each.
Livingstone could also be used as an underwriter for Maxwell, who had a very good run at RCB last year but could prove inconsistent.
