TORONTO, Jan. 20, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Children, families and classrooms across the country are invited to participate in the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society of Canada’s annual MS Read-a-Thon, which begins virtually Jan. 27 Held until February 28, 2022.This year’s event kicks off at MS Society’s virtual book club event “Bookworm Buddies” on Jan. 22 at 11am ET YouTube channel, featuring MS Read-a-Thon ambassadors, current participants and last year’s top fundraisers.
The event will be hosted by Ainara Alleyne, MS Read-a-Thon Junior Ambassador for the popular Instagram account @ainarasbookshelf, which celebrates children’s books with characters of black and people of color. The 12-year-old, who lives in Hamilton, Ontario, will interview David Bouchard, best-selling Aboriginal children’s author and MS Read-a-Thon Ambassador in Victoria, British Columbia, during the opening event.He will read his latest book we learn from the sun, which is based on the seven sacred teachings common to most Aboriginal peoples.
Ainara will also be joining MS Society via social media throughout February to host interviews with other MS Read-a-Thon ambassadors (children writers Ashley Spiers and Mireille Messier) and share her book-recommended readathon with different stories for MS “Bookworm Companions” to add to their reading list.
